Protecting OUR heritage
Heritage Paddock Wood was set up, in its present form, in January 2018 with the aim of promoting and preserving the area in and around Paddock Wood as a cultural, arts and heritage destination to enrich people’s lives and support the local economy.
The concept of Heritage Paddock Wood began some years ago when Paddock Wood first became involved in Heritage Open Days and put on events. In 2012 the Jubilee and the London Olympic Games were commemorated and a brochure produced. In more recent times, after the pandemic, we have seen how important it is for people to maintain their health and wellbeing and the intention is to continue with activities and events to enrich lives. Heritage Paddock Wood will continue to work with schools, business and local groups.
Heritage Open Days, a national event every September has become a regular fixture in the calendar, along with events such as the Paddock Wood Carnival in the summer and Paddock Wood Lights up in November.
To this end, our obectives are to:
Provide a cultural and heritage focus and centre in Paddock Wood.
Store, preserve and protect historical documents, pictures and artefacts, using digital technology as appropriate.
Provide a resource base and range of activities to encourage the physical and mental health and well-being of all ages and enrich lives.

We hope that all those who share our aims will join us and help retain the history and culture of this important area in the Kent Weald, with its historic links to hop picking and the building of the local rail network.
Heritage Paddock Wood wishes to acknowledge the financial help and encouragement received from Kent County Council and looks forward to working in partnership with them for the future, both in local libraries in the area and at the Amelia Scott Centre in Tunbridge Wells.
With KCC help and that of Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, Heritage Paddock Wood has an office in the Wesley Centre in Commercial Road, Paddock Wood.
