Paddock Wood Women’s Institute

Paddock Wood WI was founded by Mrs Beverely Morgan of Mascalls in 1921. She was the mother of Sir Frederick Morgan who masterminded D Day during World War 2, and was the daughter of Major & Elizabeth Horrocks.

The WI took an active role in the social life of Paddock Wood and their first (inaugural) meeting was held in the Parochial Hall which was demolished in 1967.

The WI formed a Linen League which supplied pillow cases to the local Hospital every year.

Garden parties were held at Mascalls to raise funds.
